Description: Item/Description: Ornate antique Middle Eastern prayer belt with silver lidded box reliquary box. Two thick ropes of berry colored silk twin expertly braided and knotted and wrapped with gilt twine decorated with tiny clear beads. Thick tassel ends. Each attached to rings to which a silver box is suspended. The hinged lidded reliquary box is beautifully chased over its entire surface. Soldered shut at each end of lid. Unmarked. Small hook attaches the ropes.

Material: Silver, twine, gilt thread, glass beads

Dimensions Box: Height: 3 1/4"; Width: 2 1/2"; Depth: 3/4"; Ring Length: 3/4"; approximately 60 grams. Dimensions Rope: Length: approximately 20"; Width: 2"-3" (rope, tassel).

Condition: Good. Hinged box does not currently, curved latch appears to have been purposely bent down/soldered shut. We have not attempted to open it, though there is movement, give at that end. Surface age and use wear includes variations in color of thread, some fraying to gilt twine. Raspberry twine is soft and supple.
